A Blast From the Past!
A Blast From the Past!
Before the Christmas holidays we were traveling through time looking back at the past 30 years since The Brunel Centre opened. First, we had an essay writing competition where students could write about how life has changed since 1989. For those who lived in the 80´s, it was quite a blast from the past when looking at our wall with all the photos of things and people from 1989! The winner, Lucia Albaro Laborda won 2 tickets to the cinema for her interesting, original, well-written essay about feminism in the last 30 years.
After walking down memory lane we decided to look into the future as we approached the new year, 2020. Hoping for the best and looking forward to 2020 we organized a New Year´s greeting card contest. Those who entered, had to design a card with a short message in English or French. It was a tough decision for our judges (teachers) because we have so many great artists! It came down to our first-place winners: Ixeia Féliz (11) and Pablo Sarto (12) who received a gift certificate for ¨Coffee Crepe¨ to enjoy an afternoon crepe. The other runners up were: Julian Illana (10), Lucas Alonso (9), Valentina Leguizamón (9), Inés Illana (9), Aroa Cáncer (6), Loreto Sanclemente Olivan (16) and Marina Romeo Luna (17).
We were so happy with all who participated in these activities and are still enjoying these beautiful works of art on our wall. Thanks for travelling through with us on this year of our 30th anniversary. As we embark into the new year, 2020, let´s reflect on this beautiful message our student, Marina R. L. wrote. ¨May – this new year – all your dreams turn into reality and all your efforts into great achievements. ¨
